Our timber collection

Australian hardwoods are some of the finest in the world offering excellent durability, beautiful grains and a wide selection of colours. Below is a summary of some the timbers we keep in stock or can source through our wide network of timber millers.

Western Red Box

White, grey and red box have been used for fence posts in Australia's pastoral industry for hundreds of years. Few people, are aware, however, of the structural and architectural qualities of this timber genus, particularly Red Box which has unique colour and figure variations, exclusive to the species. 100% of our Western Red Box has been saved from broad acre land clearing projects in western Queensland and consequently using it responsibly for building projects is environmentally acceptable. || read more...

River Redgum

Saved from perishing in Victoria's sometimes misinformed water catchment programs, we have River Redgum with beautiful 'fiddleback' colour and figure. Due to it's rapidly diminishing availability we reserve a 'power of veto' to refuse sales for what we consider might be inappropriate uses. Suitable for exceptional floors, benchtops, stairtreads and fireplace surrounds the only limitation on this timber is its availability. || read more...

Red Ironbark

One of Australia's iconic harwood timber species. Our sectional sizes, quality, colour options and quantities of Ironbark are rarely available to architects, builders or other users. This is a unique opportunity to purchase select quantities of what some people affectionately call 'the 1000 year timber'. Suitable for flooring, frames and sills, stairs, skirtings and architraves, weatherboard cladding and structural sections. || read more...

Coastal Red Mahogany

As the name implies this Australian eucalypt displays many of the characteristics of European and Brazilian Mahogany, but is far harder and, depending on its location and uses, can mature to a darker and more mellow finish. We have limited quantities suitable for traditional four panel-doors, door and window frames, sills and reveals, wide section flooring, skirting boards, architraves and stair treads. A suitable project, for this rarely available species, might be the exciting introduction of all architectural joinery (and possibly some furniture), in red mahogany from our inventory. || read more...

Brigalow

Rescued from vast stockpiles of cleared (and ultimately burnt) forests in south east Queensland, this deep, rich, honey brown, fine grained timber is irreplaceable. Available mainly in wide board flooring. Also often referred to as spearwood. || read more...

Bloodwood

A medium hardness, tropical, eucalypt from NW Queensland. We have small quantities of this easy-to-work red timber, which has some pink background colours. It can be obtained, on indent order, for special projects. || read more...
